Artsemble Underground and Family Initiative Present: Family Connections: An inclusive art showcase
Artsemble Underground and Family Initiative are thrilled to announce a collaborative art exhibition at the Sidney and Berne Davis Art Center, set to open on July 4, 2025. This exhibition promises to be a remarkable display of creativity and community while showcasing the power art has to inspire change.
Since May 2024, Artsemble Underground co-founder Brian Weaver has worked closely with Family Initiative, a local non-profit dedicated to supporting children, adolescents, and young adults impacted by Autism Spectrum Disorder and those within child welfare through community based programs and clinical services.
In addition to collaborating with families within the community, Artsemble has partnered with students from Thrive Academy, a Family Initiative program. In this program, Brian has guided the students through an artistic journey that will culminate in this unique collaborative showcase on July 4, 2025. The gallery will feature a diverse range of artworks, including murals, sculptures, and multimedia pieces, all created by students and children, adolescents, and young adults in the community under Brian Weaver’s mentorship.
About Family Initiative and Thrive Academy
Family Initiative is dedicated to providing support and services to children, adolescents, and young adults across the region, particularly those with Autism Spectrum Disorder and those involved within the child welfare system.
Thrive Academy, a Family Initiative project, empowers ASD youth and young adults with an individualized approach to learning, with academics focusing on English language arts, mathematics, social studies, and science, all within a nurturing environment where students can thrive academically, socially, and creatively.
About Artsemble Underground
Founded with the vision of making art accessible to everyone, Artsemble Underground has been transforming public spaces and supporting local businesses with vibrant murals and art installations since 2014. The organization was formally established in 2016, with a mission to break down barriers between artists and the public. Artsemble Underground fosters an all-immersive multimedia experience that transcends traditional gallery settings, empowering artists to use their work as a catalyst for social change rather than just a commodity.
In addition to their collaboration with Family Initiative and Thrive Academy, Artsemble Underground is known for organizing SWFL Mural Fest, a celebration of public art that draws artists and visitors from across the region. The next festival is scheduled for April 5, 2025, marking its third anniversary.
The Gallery Showcase
This upcoming gallery event is not just an exhibition; it is a testament to what can be achieved when art and education intersect. The artworks on display will reflect the students’ unique perspectives, experiences, and creative growth over the past year.
The event is open to the public, inviting families, community members, and art enthusiasts to engage with the artwork and the young artists behind it. Through this showcase, Artsemble Underground and Family Initiative aims to highlight the importance of art in education and its role in fostering inclusivity and understanding within the community.
Join us at the Sidney and Berne Davis Art Center on July 4, 2025, for an inspiring celebration of art, collaboration, and community.
