About
The International Baccalaureate program has been in existence at Fort Myers High for 30 years, established in 1993, and is the longest running IB program in Lee County. While four other Lee County high schools now offer the program, the number of students in the Visual Arts category consistently remains twice that of any other school.
Over the past six years, our IB students have specifically benefited from the professional exhibition setting of SBDAC in understanding how a professional artist must prepare artwork for installation, time deadlines and expectations of an opening night. This fulfills the IB Visual Arts curriculum requirement that students act not only as the artist, but also as curator in the sense that they must consider the arrangement of their art installation and how that arrangement influences the viewing public. SBDAC creates an atmosphere of wonder and professionalism that allows the students to participate in an authentic artistic experience.
Fort Myers High School is proud to present the 2025 International Baccalaureate Senior Visual Arts Exhibition, showcasing the creativity of 25 students. During the past two years these students have created unique works of art and explored the works of historical and contemporary artists, investigated critical theories in art, and created extensive documentation of their art making processes in a series of sketchbook entries.
Our students are proud to showcase works of art created in fulfillment of theInternational Baccalaureate Visual Arts requirements. The artwork presented at the Sidney & Berne Davis Arts Center explore a wide range of visual media including traditional and digital photography, acrylic and oil painting, pen and ink, printmaking, fiber arts, sculpture, ceramics, and more.
